Jim Pratt

Jim received his J.D. from Washburn University School of Law in 1996 and a degree in Political Science from the University of South Carolina in 1991. Before joining the Federal Public Defender’s office as the CJA Resource Counsel, Jim spent over 25 years representing criminal defendants, first as a Kansas State Public Defender and then in private practice. For the last 15 years, Jim devoted much of his practice to representing indigent defendants as a CJA Panel Member. 

Jim is a 25-year member of both the Kansas Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He is a former board member and past president of the KACDL. Jim has successfully argued before the Kansas Court of Appeals and the Kansas Supreme Court. 

When not at work, Jim enjoys time with his family and reading history.
